Pop! Icons of American Culture from the Smithsonian

Exhibition Website

Dec 7 2018 - Feb 24 2019

Explore the ways popular culture has played a major role in influencing and expressing the sentiments of generations of Americans.

This exhibit will include a variety of artifacts on loan from the extensive collections of the National Museum of American History, National Portrait Gallery, and National Museum of African American History. The Superman and Lois Lane costumes worn by Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder take center stage in this exhibition. These pieces will be in good company alongside Marilyn Monroe’s famous white gloves, a soccer jersey worn by Mia Hamm at the 1996 Summer Olympics, Eddie Van Halen’s guitar, Tony Hawk’s first skateboard, and an original drawing of the Peanuts cartoon completed by Charles Schulz for the cover of Time Magazine in 1965.
