Exhibition Website

Apr 10 2018 - May 13 2018

Explore this year’s Indie Grits Labs project Two Cities through place-based works of art. This year’s project focuses on the North Columbia area. From journals to resource maps and videos, Two Cities: In Process is an exhibition featuring ephemera from Indie Grits Labs fellows Yolanda Anderson, Mary Brebner, Mahkia Greene, Curtis Heru, Laura Kissel, Darion McCloud, Rico McDaniel, Betsy Newman, Fart.PDF, Josetra Robinson, and Tahriah Spann. The installation features processes, objects, and narratives illustrating the ways in which racial and socioeconomic factors define our experiences and interactions within our shared city. As part of Columbia’s annual Indie Grits Festival, Indie Grits Labs explores the creation of new media artwork and media education. The Labs provide an active, hands-on approach that supports a collaborative community of artists as they create work around a common theme using a wide range of disciplines and approaches including painting, filmmaking, game development, community organization, horticulture, music, storytelling, sculpture, and photography.
