As an adopted child I search the world to find myths and stories to fill the gap present from not having a ready-made family narrative of my own when I was young. Through this lens, I now make drawings that are emotional and technical, with a colorist's sensibility, that link the visual language of landscape, color theory, and constructed elements. These watercolor drawings are made by observing environmental phenomena (here referred to as natural characters such as wind, clouds, shadow, noise, birds, horizon, etc.) and through abstraction which assists these characters in describing an essential story about the landscape and built environment and mythology.
