Bryn Athyn, PA
Nishan Yardumian (1947-1986) taught painting in Bryn Athyn, both at the Academy of the New Church Secondary Schools and Bryn Athyn College. He maintained a special interest in religious art, including Glencairn Museum’s collection of medieval stained glass and sculpture. Many of his own paintings explore the role of Divine agency within biblical narratives, and how these stories illuminate our shared human experiences as spiritual beings. According to Nishan, “Ideally, paintings add to a room something spiritual, that is, something genuinely human. One may hang a painting and have thereafter on his wall a ‘window to the soul.’”
