Hopper Home for the Holidays

Exhibition Website

Dec 1 2017 - Jan 31 2018

Designing and painting holiday cards to send to family and friends has been a longstanding tradition for many artists.  This selection of cards, letters, and gift tags by Edward Hopper to his wife, Jo (“Josie”), mother Elizabeth (“Lizzie”), and sister, Marion, reflect the artist’s sense of humor and playful side.

The cut paper collages represent favorite painting spots, including Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and Truro on Cape Cod, where the Hoppers spent their summers after building a house there in 1934.
