Maitland, FL
For 31 days in March, contemporary artists from across the U.S. create new works and engage the public in the creative process. Art31 is a series of exhibits and art happenings that honors the Art & History Museums – Maitland (A&H) Maitland Art Center’s history as the Research Studio. In the spirit of experimentation and collaboration in modern art, the Research Studio welcomed luminaries such as Milton Avery and Ralston Crawford from 1937 – 1959.
Art31: Fiber features the work of a group of internationally recognized artists who create with cloth, paper, and other fibers, and use techniques like stitching, quilting and more, as methods of engaging with their environments. Viewers will recognize these mediums & techniques, used in innovative and thought provoking manners.
