Explore the woodcut, one of the oldest techniques used to create artworks on paper, through WAM’s exhibition Surfaced: Rarely Seen Woodcuts from the Collection. This exhibition, curated by former E. Gerald and Lisa O’Brien Curatorial Fellow Kate Heller, is a compilation of woodcut prints all held in WAM’s collection.

The name “surfaced” refers to the woodcut practice, that in essence is the transference of images between surfaces, but here it also means revealing something forgotten or overlooked. The prints in this exhibition have been on the fringes of the collection for years, hidden from the public eye. The time has come to pull them from dark storage for all to view and enjoy.
