Revoir: To See Again

Exhibition Website

Apr 21 2017 - May 22 2017

Organized by Teens@CAC, Revoir: To See Again presents work that examines the relationship between memory—individual and collective—and identity.

An exhibition about personal and social histories and the ways they inform contemporary self-presentation, Revoir: To See Again asks Who am I? as a response to Where did I come from?. While some works specifically engage broad social questions about race, gender, class, ethnicity, and sexual orientation, others mine personal traditions and customs of food, language, shared geography, and social ritual. Collectively, these works present art as a tool for understanding, healing, and liberation.

This exhibition is curated by and comprised of work by New Orleans teen artists. This is our effort to bring into public view the memories and imagination of our generation of artists and peers who currently negotiate the competing demand to individuate and to belong to the community of New Orleans.
