Warhol: Cowboys - Indians - Polaroids

Exhibition Website

Jun 3 2017 - Aug 26 2017

During the mid-1980s American Pop artist Andy Warhol created a series of prints depicting American West icons such as Annie Oakley, General George Custer, John Wayne, and Geronimo.  As with his other works, true historical roles and facts are of less importance than his commentary on how American society creates and consumes icons and myths.  This suite by Warhol is on loan from the Rockwell Museum in Corning, NY.

A selection of Warhol Polaroids on loan from Texas Christian University will complement the prints.
