The Old Jail Art Center has been a center for arts and culture in Texas since 1980. The permanent collection includes over 2000 works of art. 

The largest area of focus includes modern drawings, paintings and prints by well known Americans such as Sloan and Thomas Hart Benton, and Europeans Renoir, Klee, Modigliani, Picasso, and Miro. 

The collection also includes contemporary British art, regional collections of the Fort Worth Circle ( 1945-1955 ) and Taos Modern artists, and emerging artists of Texas.
