A dazzling display of precious gems and jewelry from the vaults of the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. Includes whimsical creations by Sidney Mobell, a designer of one of a kind fantastical jewelry and objects. Mobell, an actor who performed with Jayne Mansfield, and a song-writer whose songs topped the charts, was also a talented designer and the jeweler-of-choice for royalty and the powerful including everyone from Queen Elizabeth to Walt Disney Company executives. Mobell is celebrated for crafting common utilitarian items into beautiful, unique jeweled artworks through the use of gold and precious gemstones.
