California Wood Artists

Recent works by 39 artists from across the Golden State will be featured in the California Wood Artists exhibition opening October 2, 2016 at The Maloof. The exhibition is part of Maloof Centennial 2016 programming that celebrates the life and legacy of renowned American woodworker Sam Maloof (1916-2009).

Artists featured in the exhibition range from well-known and celebrated masters Gary Knox Bennett and Barbara Holmes to many less well-known or emerging makers—some at the very start of their careers. Shown side-by-side in the gallery, the extraordinary works invite a dialog that speaks to California’s inimitable spirit for inventing the future. Bold, beautiful and creative, the featured pieces demonstrate that wood art sculpture and furniture-making are alive and thriving across the state.
