The Permanent Collection at Danforth Art consists of approximately 3,500 objects in all media. The Museum actively collects and holds examples of American Art from the early nineteenth century to the present day, selections of which are on view through August 21, 2016.
Works are presented thematically, including figural representation, landscape traditions, and object studies, in the Swartz Gallery. Highlights from New England movements—from the Boston School to Modernism to Boston Expressionism—are on view in the Rosenberg Gallery. Over 100 works are on view, including those by celebrated artists Gilbert Stuart, Albert Bierstadt, Philip Leslie Hale, Geritt Beneker, and Meta Vaux Warrick Fuller.
