HistoryMiami Museum us a Smithsonian Affiliate, and is the premier cultural institution committed to collecting, preserving and celebrating Miami’s history as the unique crossroads of the Americas.

The picture archives contains 1.5 million photograph prints and negatives of southeast Florida, the entire state, and the Caribbean dating from 1883 to the present. Also maps, prints, posters, and postcards, manuscripts collections , architectural drawings, and a collection of some 37,000 artifacts ranging from pre-Colombian pieces to contemporary items, such as tools, furniture, boats, aviation materials, clothing, musical instruments and religious objects.

Through exhibitions, artistic endeavors, city tours, education, research, collections and publications, HistoryMiami Museum tells the stories of Miami’s communities, individuals, places and events.
