Palm Springs Art Museum in Palm Desert is an 8,400 square foot, Silver LEED-certified building. Named The Galen, it presents rotating exhibitions and special collections. Admission to the Palm Desert location is free to the public
The modern and contemporary collection contains approximately 3,000 sculptures, paintings and prints, 2,000 fine art photographs, and another 40,000 negatives, contact sheets and other photo-based objects.
The Galen building is surrounded by the four-acre Faye Sarkowsky Sculpture Garden that features more than 10 significant sculpture works on view surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens. Set in a lushly landscaped desert oasis of water features, native plants and winding walkways dotted with natural rock benches, the sculpture garden houses the art of modern masters, including works by Donald Judd, Betty Gold, Yehiel Shemi , Felipe Castaneda, Jesús Bautista Moroles, Dan Namingha, Gio Pomodoro, and Dave McGary.
The 250,000 square feet of sculpted, rolling landscape covered with native plantings, winding pathways, and water features is the most important sculpture garden between Los Angeles and Phoenix. The sculpture garden is open year round with no admission fee.
