NCAAA fosters and presents the finest in contemporary, visual and performing arts from the global Black world. Historical and contemporary exhibitions in many media include painting, sculpture, graphics, photography and decorative arts. 

Several exhibitions provide a gateway to black artistic heritage globally, including Aspelta: A Nubian King’s Burial Chamber (Nubia and Egypt during the 25th Dynasty), Yoruba deities in Nature in Orisha Domain, and Roxbury Explored -- the architectural history of Roxbury, and graphic and sculptural masterworks  in John Wilson Remembered 1923-2015 . 

Throughout the Museum are works from the permanent collections representing significant artists from Haiti and other areas of the Americas.
