Verge opened in 2009 as a private art gallery owned by Jesse Powell. As Powell's vision for the gallery expanded beyond the ability of the space, he gathered leaders from the community to help him build something even more exceptional.

In 2010 VCA relocated to a 22,000 square foot warehouse in the heart of downtown Sacramento as a 501(c)3 non-profit arts organization. VCA houses artist studios on site, provides expansive gallery space, features community education, and provides a one-of-a-kind printmaking lab.

Verge offers opportunities for the community to experience installation and performance art, sound and video, and other contemporary art forms.
