The Museum is housed in the historic Old Carnegie Library building, which was constructed in 1912-13 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The collection focuses on the work of regional and Mississippi artists, and temporary exhibitions feature well-known artists from Mississippi and Alabama in solo and group shows, invitationals, and the Bi-State and People’s Choice Competitions.
