Associated with the University of Tennessee, the McClung Museum holds collections in anthropology, archaeology, material and visual culture, and natural history, with exhibits showcasing the geologic, historical, and artistic past of Tennessee, as well as cultures from around the world.

Collections include objects in the following areas: ancient Egypt; ancient Roman artifacts; antique ornithological engravings and lithographs; the American Civil War; decorative arts; early photographs; ethnology; local history; and WWI and WWII military material.
