The museum hosts changing exhibits of both contemporary and classic art, as well as a selection of the permanent collection of paintings, prints, textiles, and sculptures from American, European, and Asian artists; African artifacts and masks; Native American art; and American and Mexican folk art. 

The museum building is a historic brick-clad Gregorian Revival mansion built in 1903, set in historic gardens.
