Originated in the 1960s, the museum opened in 2004 in its current of the renovated auditorium in historic Altgeld Hall.
Most of the permanent collection of over 1,000 objects consists of 20th century works of art on paper (prints, drawings and photographs), but also includes contemporary paintings and sculpture.
