First opened in 1974, SMART is an academic art museum on the University of Chicago campus. Four main collections—Asian art, European art, modern art and design, and contemporary art—include recognized masterworks as well as works that introduce lesser known aspects of art history.
Collection strengths include figurative art, works on paper, and small-scale sculpture, as well as materials that illuminate artists' working methods and contexts.
