A facility of the University of Illinois, the encyclopedic museum formally opened to the public in 1874.
Collections include over 4,000 objects of fine and decorative art with an emphasis on 20th century works. Included are paintings, prints and drawings, large and small scale sculpture in metal, ceramics and glass, photography, and a collection of regional historic and contemporary ethnic and folk arts.
