The Luther W. Brady Art Gallery maintains the University's Permanent Collection of paintings, sculptures, graphics, textiles, ceramics, historic furnishings, and photographs. The collection  includes more than 3800 works, including Gilbert Stuart's Monro-Lenox Full-length Portrait of George Washington.

Collections of photography, Washington Color School painting, and historical collections of Ulysses S. Grant, have been enhanced by acquisition of a number of works by such notable artists as Fernando Botero, Jules Olitski (prints and sculpture), Frank Stella, Andy Warhol, and Isaac Witkin, among others.

Many works from the collection are on view in public spaces around campus, as well as the public sculpture found on the Foggy Bottom, Mount Vernon, and Virginia campuses of the University.
