The Trout Gallery collection of more than 6000 works is global in scope, representing art and ethnographic artifacts from antiquity to the present.
Holdings are particularly rich in American and European works on paper, and ethnographic materials and sculpture from sub-Saharan Africa. Additionally, the Gallery has a growing collection of outdoor sculpture.
The Trout Gallery features two temporary-exhibition spaces. The entrance level gallery hosts thematic exhibitions of pieces from the permanent collection. The lower level gallery features important temporary exhibitions organized by The Trout Gallery or on loan from other museums.
