Associated with one of the top art history programs in the world , the Yale University Art Gallery is the oldest university art museum in the western hemisphere. The collection numbers more than 200,000 objects representing Eastern and Western cultures, and ranging in date from ancient times to the present day.
The museum is housed in three adjacent historic buildings. dating from 1866, 1926, and 1953 ... the latter being a renowned modernist design by Louis Kahn.
The Yale University Art Gallery is free and open to the public Tuesday through Sunday.
