Joanna van Son

The Museum’s Knight Foundation-supported 2025 artist-in-residence, Joanna van Son (b. 2000, Oman; lives and works in London) will present new paintings that distort the familiar spatial qualities of the human body, paying particular attention to the material and symbolic textures and sensitivities of the skin. 

Van Son’s practice is rooted in a distinctly physical process that foregrounds both the layering and erasure of the female body.
