Rhythms on Repeat

Exhibition Website

Sep 19 2026 - Sep 9 2029

Reopening the Center for Creative Connections (C3) with a resounding bang—a celebration of sound and pattern!

Rhythms on Repeat brings together over 50 works from the DMA’s collection that illustrate the many ways that rhythms—both audible and visual—can manifest in art.

The works on view span centuries and continents, range in scale from minuscule to massive, and use a wide variety of media, from paintings by Pablo Picasso and Romare Bearden to ceramic vessels by Viktor Schreckengost and Roberto Lugo, and even instruments like a Mangbetu horn.

Exciting new gallery interactives encourage visitors to create their own patterns and explore sound inspired by artwork on view.
