Modern and contemporary works of art from the Latin American Art Collection at TMA represent diverse experiences of people and places from the last century through today. They visually tell stories about everyday lives, ideas, and cultural traditions through artistic expressions and multiple forms of media.
This gallery features selections from the collection that touch upon the human condition, broadly defined as characteristics and events of human life which include birth, death, emotion, conflict, and morality. It is also used in the context of philosophical understanding, such as the meaning of life. Visitors are invited to explore the works on view through the lens of their experiences as well as the artists’, encompassing joy and sorrow, triumph and defeat, hope and suffering, and everything in between.
