Patrick Martinez: Falling Empire.

Patrick Martinez (b. 1980, Pasadena, CA) grew up in the San Gabriel Valley, a suburban Los Angeles neighborhood, and comes from a diverse cultural background (Filipino, Mexican, and Native American). 

Influenced by urban culture and the Hip Hop movement, Martinez’s art practice includes a wide variety of media (graffiti, painting, neon, ceramic and sculpture), and colorfully scrutinizes otherwise everyday realities of suburban and urban life in Los Angeles and popular culture. 

Patrick Martinez: Falling Empire, is Martinez’s first solo museum exhibition in the American Southwest. The show will include a selection of paintings, neon works, memorials, and sculptural cakes that unearths the artist’s depiction of a fading American promise.

This exhibtion will be accompanied by a full-color catalogue.
