Picasso, Braque, and Léger

Oct 6 2019 - Jan 5 2020

The history of twentieth century art cannot be written without mentioning the names Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, and Fernand Léger. And yet, few appreciate their role as modern printmakers.

Each found inspiration in literature and poetry, both ancient and contemporary. Working closely with printers and publishers, they produced highly prized, limited-edition illustrated print series.

Among the great works presented will be Picasso’s earliest print series, Suite des Saltimbanques (1904-5), and his last, Le Cocu Magnifique, 1968, as well as works from Braque’s iconic L’Ordre des Oiseaux (The Order of Birds), 1962, and Léger’s emblematic color lithographs from his Les Illuminations series (1950).
