Located in a limestone mansion (1932) with extensive formal gardens, Cheekwood's holdings include American art; American and British decorative arts; and contemporary art.

The American collection, including 600 paintings and 5,000 prints, drawings and photographs, is strong on “The Eight” (Henri, Luks, Sloan, etc.), as well as numerous sculptures by William Edmondson and photographs of Louise Dahl-Wolfe.

Decorative arts holdings center on porcelain and American silver. The Worcester collection illustrates the design progression of the 18th-20th centuries; a 650-piece silver collection spans the 18th-20th centuries; 27 examples of American Art Pottery include pieces produced by the companies of Weller, Tiffany and Newcomb, Fulper, and Rookwood.

Contemporary Art is housed in galleries created in the estate’s original garage and stables, includes Rivers, Warhol, Ryman, and Red Grooms. 15 sculptures by regional, national, and international artists are on the Woodland Sculpture Trail.
