Artist's statement:

This exhibition is an exploration of a particular and strange photographic technique, the room sized camera obscura. Essentially a dark room with a lens installed in one wall, I've used this process for years to create images first in New York and Seattle and more recently around Wyoming, directly exposing large sheets of color or bw negative and positive paper to the projected scene. These images are an exploration of landscape devoid of people and motion and distilled to their fundamental parts. I'm interested in the monumental and the mundane, looking at the closed, chaotic city-scapes of New York City and the open, empty areas on the edge of town in my new home Laramie, Wyoming. They are also an exploration of process, a convoluted, difficult and error prone one that leaves it's indelible mark on the image, dictating what I photograph and how the end product looks.
