Did you know? The State Museum’s collection now boasts more than 100,000 artifacts, and the collection continues to grow and evolve on a daily basis through museum purchases and generous gifts from individuals. Fill in the Gap is a unique exhibit featuring objects that have been acquired between 2013 and 2018.

This exhibition includes items from all disciplines represented in the museum’s collection, including fossil finds, Catawba Indian and other South Carolina pottery, fine art by South Carolina artists and fascinating historical objects. Guests will also learn how curators work to prepare and conserve objects.

In addition to showcasing never-before-seen items, guests will have the opportunity to learn about the process the museum undergoes to acquire, catalog, store and exhibit artifacts for the public.
