Exploring the concept of home through the lenses of photographers, Hélène Amouzou, Joana Choumali, Fanta Diop, Manyatsa Monyamane, Johanne Rahaman, Miora Rajaonary, and Nina Robinson, Where I Seek, I Find Myself, delves into the notion of home as a concept.
Featuring photography from the Bronx, the American South (Arkansas & Florida), the Caribbean, Europe, and South Africa, this exhibition offers a jumbled mixture of representations of home. At once nowhere and everywhere, the viewer experiences the self in three parts: 1) Outdoors in the community, 2) In the “house”, and 3) In the body. Intentionally geographically disorienting, this exhibition challenges the viewer to find the common threads in “homes” throughout the African Diaspora.
