Artist Ralph Cahoon (1910 – 1982) had a deep interest in scrimshaw, the American nuatical folk art which developed alongside the whaling industry during the first half of the nineteenth century.  This exhibit features Cahoon’s trompe l’oeil scrimshaw works paired with examples of historic scrimshaw.
