The Vault: David Mann

This work was selected by Lindsay Fricano (class of 2019), who explains: “I chose this work because I was immediately drawn to the intense contrast and balance of the piece. The delicate, cellular forms juxtaposed against the dark void of a background is profoundly serene. As an engineering major with a passion for art, I felt an immediate kinship with the piece, as it has such a strong scientific inspiration. Too often there is a disconnect between art and science. I fully believe that integrating the two enhances both disciplines. Highlighting the beauty of the sophisticated structures that make up the basis of life inspires scientific and artistic achievement alike. Contemporary art and science can both be intimidating, and I feel it’s important to make them accessible for all.”
