My Artist in Residence Melissa Shanley

This exhibit of work is a culmination of Melissa’s five-month residency at MarinMOCA. “My” consists of detailed abstractions of the female body, printed on paper and silk. The images are duplicated and layered, one over the other, to create a veiled, or concealed image. This work is a response to the current political climate as contemporary women struggle to decide what is their own, and what is to be revealed.
