Michael Mendez is a photographer and adjunct professor of art at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. His piece 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall; A Child’s Introduction to Binge Drinking (for Andy) was included in Johns Hopkins University Press’s book Addiction and Art. He also won the Governor’s Award and Award of Excellence at the Biennial West Virginia Juried Exhibition.

Lips, Neck, and Shoulders: Photograms by Michael Mendez addresses the socialization of alcohol in society. A photogram is a cameraless photograph made by placing an object on a light-sensitive material and exposing it to light, thus darkening the exposed areas and leaving behind a white image of the object.
