50 States-A Selection From the Series

Craig Marshall Smith has decided to conclude his painting career with fifty paintings, each one randomly titled after a state. Forty of the fifty paintings have been completed, and some of them are being shown now. This exhibition features 8 completed works of the 50 in the series. Smith’s interests in drawing, eradication, clarity, ambiguity, and asymmetrical compositions are all here. He credits the abstract expressionists who led the way, and his “kit of French curves and straight edges.”
