We Don't Live There: Neal Breton & Haley Lauw

Exhibition Website

Jul 6 2018 - Sep 12 2018

We Don’t Live There expresses a sentimentality that isn’t necessarily yours, a nostalgia you can’t experience. We see images of places and are expected to feel something about them, but we hold no agency for somewhere we’ve never been, somewhere we can never go. Artist Haley Lauw presents her reality through facsimile; she uses all dimensions to create a space that is familiar, but not yours. Artist Neal Breton portrays patios and pools of houses and homes that are equally as recognizable as they are far away.

We Don’t Live There talks about the artists’ expression of a place, her and his relationships to that place, and how everyone else fits in to it.
