This work was selected by Karely Byrd (class of 2018), who explains: “I learned about Frank Paulin while doing research for the Museum Studies Curatorial Practices course this past spring and quickly fell in love with his photographs. I’ve always loved photography and the way that Paulin was able to capture everyday life. In particular, I found this piece interesting because it’s a multiple exposure. At the time the photograph was made, it was not nearly as easy to take these types of images as it is today. I really want to show people just how awesome it is that a photograph from the 1950s was created using such beautiful multiple exposures, while also capturing different aspects of New York.”
