This large-scale episodic painting cycle explores an overarching theme of feminism throughout southern Africa, and considers the consequences of dividing labor practices by gender. Mokgosi’s emphasis on narrative storytelling allows the viewer to compare what they see in the paintings to the realities of inequality and gendered labor divisions closer to home.
