Common Ground - Mobile-Havana: A Photographic Exhibition

Exhibition Website

Mar 2 2018 - Aug 12 2018

This project features a photographic exhibition of 50 photographs celebrating the “common ground” found in the people and cultures of sister cities Mobile and Havana. The exhibition will be accompanied by programs featuring Cuban food, film, music and dance.

The photographic exhibition includes approximately 50 large-format photographs of related themes found in sister cities Mobile, Alabama and Havana, Cuba (landscape, urban structures, people, cultural traditions).

These photographic pairs represent recent images by University of Alabama resident photographers Chip Cooper and Cuban photographer Julio Larramendi. The photographers travelled together seeking images, themes and currents common to both cities: Mobile, now over 300 years old; and Havana, celebrating the 500th year of its founding in 2019.
