A new installation of sculptural works from the permanent collection based on the classical elements of the ancient Chinese tradition: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. These elements were used for describing interactions and relationships between phenomena. The interrelationship of these classical elements is explored through contemporary fine craft mediums including jewelry, decorative arts, sculpture, ceramics, textiles and paper. An amalgam of ancient raw materials and modern ingenuity, artists stretch the boundaries of earth’s elements in metal, wood, clay, stone, glass and other natural media.
