In this suite of last ladies I am undergoing a massive renovation of Grace Coolidge’s risque art-deco collection that was housed in a green room during her tenure at FLOTUS in 1924. In my 21st century remodel, the room is stocked to its brim with majestic African sculptures that are composed of living incarcerated heads and deceased oligarch bodies. Like Coolidge I too am elevating recognizable national emblems so as to reestablish all things that are quintessentially American.
This installation is composed of works mostly done on watercolor and Xerox paper, drawn and collaged using ink, graphite, silver gouache, blade and glue.
