Exhibition Website

Jul 26 2017 - Apr 15 2018

With the rise of kabuki theaters in the pleasure quarters of Japan as a popular form of mass entertainment, many woodblock prints depicted these theatrical scenes.

This exhibition presents prints from The DAI’s collection highlighting the variety of expressions, poses, and stories in kabuki, as well as the styles of artists who extended the performance of these actors into woodblock prints.
