New Geography: Photographs by Marilyn Bridges

Exhibition Website

Nov 22 2017 - Apr 29 2018

For four decades, pilot and photographer Marilyn Bridges has taken to the skies to capture riveting landscapes below. From her initial fascination with photographing ancient earthworks, she has gone on to explore the markings that humans leave on the land today.

Bridges sums up her photographic work as recording the “messages of humankind” that are inscribed on the earth. The juxtaposition of her past and present landscapes spurs thought-provoking questions: how do we understand our own relationship with the land, when compared with the relationship of past civilizations? What will remain of our society in the future, and what will archaeologists think of us?
