The Morean Arts Center continues to dedicate this season as a time to appreciate our members and celebrate their talent.
The 2017 members exhibition includes nearly 250 works of art expressing a full spectrum of images and ideas through painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, jewelry, clay, mixed media, fiber, mosaic, glass and digital art, all from our gifted members. Our members are the heart and soul of the Morean, and we are proud to showcase their work during this time.
Special thanks to Dirk Armstrong, who served as guest juror for this year’s show. He gave out monetary awards in memory and in honor of special artists and individuals who have shaped our organization in a profound way: Margaret Murphy Steward, John Brown, John Eckert, Tim Salen, Mark Pheiffer and Beth Reynolds.
If you are new to the Morean, there are several ways you can participate in the exhibition. Consider purchasing a work of art from the show. With a wide range of price points, there is something in this exhibition for every taste and economic ability. It’s never too late (or early!) to begin or add to your own personal art collection. Buy something that speaks to you; every piece of art has a story, and you can make it your own. Stay a while and take our scavenger hunt challenge to test your art knowledge and sleuthing skills. If you have never made art before, take a class and learn some skills that could put you in a future Morean exhibition. And last but not least, don’t forget to cast your vote for the “People’s Choice Award.” The winner will be announced at the close of the exhibition.
