Kentucky Museum at Western Kentucky University
Bowling Green, KY
A collaborative exhibition of artwork created by young artists with disabilities and local artists will be on display at the Kentucky Museum.
Students take a series of classes at the museum which are followed by one on one collaborative sessions with area artists. This enables student artists to explore the creative process as a group in small classes, in addition to receiving individual attention from a professional artist mentor. The exhibition include the student's work, the artist's work and their collaborative pieces.
Side by Side, a statewide program, was created by VSA Kentucky in partnership with the Kentucky Museum. The premier exhibit was at the Kentucky Museum. It is designed to offer a creative outlet for students, reinforce inclusiveness and positive self-image, and highlight the importance of arts education in the development of our young people. Additionally students have the opportunity to work alongside a community professional artist and see their work exhibited at the Kentucky Museum.
